Zoie's dance recital

Wednesday, June 24 was Zoie's first dance recital. She was wonderful.

Preparations: The hair and makeup had to be very precise. We started about 1 1/2 hours before she had to be there . Come on. . I have 3 kids. I have to allow myself LOTS of time. THank goodness, both Vance and Arya decided to take a nap about 4pm so it was just Zoie and I. While getting ready, the eyeliner I had was not sharp. So we had to leave earlier, go to the store, and finsih getting ready at the art center. I took her to the stage door, a mom checked her in and a way she went. I had no idea where she was going. Good thing I don't worry about her. Maybe when it is Arya's turn I will be a little more nervous.

In the ballet routine, she did most of the moves backwards. She used to do them correctly until I made a movie at a practice and had her watch it at home and practice. I thought it would help . . silly me. In the tap routine, she was directing kids where to go before the music came on. Umm. . . seems like she does the same at home to Vance. It was a mad house trying to get her after the show. The lobby of the performing art center was packed and a million (I know it is a big number), well, alot of people were also trying to get their kids or see the performers . . .so it was kinda scary not knowing where Zoie was or where exactly to get her. But I found her, exchanged my ticket for her (yes. . .I had to have a ticket to pick up my kid) and the first words out of her mouth is "Where is dad?". Good thing he is tall cause we easily navigated to him and he scooped her up and gave her a bouquet of brightly colored daisies.

Although the evening started rough, Paul, Susan, Ty, myself and Gigi, my principal had a great time watching little Missy shine at her first dance show.
